Celeste Shinay, Manager of Programming and Development for the Scarborough Public Library, represents the Library Partner and serves as team leader. Her background includes project management, facilitation of community based programming partnerships, and training as a meeting facilitator.

Incorporated in 1899, The Scarborough Public Library has a long history of successful collaboration with businesses, organizations, and schools in the community. It has partnered with both the Scarborough Historical Society and Scarborough Middle School on previous initiatives, most recently in the celebration of Scarborough's 350th Anniversary of incorporation in 2008.

The Library has long surpassed the traditional role as a repository for books, but rather, serves as the common ground and heart of Scarborough. On average, 2500 visitors come to the Library each week. As a member of the Minerva consortium, the Scarborough Public Library offers its cardholders access to over 6 million materials through its online catalog.

Through enrichment programs and partnerships with area businesses, schools, and organizations, the Library has become the "go to" place for information that connects people to what the community--and the world beyond--is talking about. The Maine Community Heritage Project has provided the perfect vehicle to translate the purposeful vision of the Library's 19th Century founders to its 21st Century role as a technology based resource.
