Welcome

Scarborough Marsh
X

Whether a resident of our community, a seasonal visitor, an educator, or a curious "virtual traveler," we invite you to discover the rich history of Scarborough by exploring this vibrant website. Exhibits and entries have been created using digitized primary source documents and artifacts found in the Scarborough Historical Society and Museum's substantial collection, the commemorative publication, Scarborough at 350: Linking the Past to the Present, the reference collection of the Scarborough Public Library, and private collections.

This robust website offers a comprehensive resource for teachers, students, researchers and historians, and includes lesson plans and indexes of supplemental references and suggested reading materials. The website serves as a "virtual downtown;" a place that brings together the new and the old, the ocean and the land. It creates a stronger sense of community through a greater understanding of the Town's culture, its past, and the lives of those who once called Scarborough home.
